Where Should We Have Our Virginia Beach Wedding?

Where should we have our Virginia Beach wedding?

There are several great venues all around the Virginia Beach resort area in which you can have your wedding ceremony and reception on the beach. For information about Beach Wedding Guidelines and venues maintained by the city, you can contact the Virginia Beach Resort Management & Special Events Office.

What about the Catering?

Many of these venues require paying a rental fee and do not include catering, table, chair, glassware, china, table linens, bar set up and bartenders, etc. When all tallied up these wedding essentials can add up and sneak up on your budget. That is one of the reasons we recommend one of the many Virginia Beach oceanfront hotels. Most hotels offer complimentary tables, chairs, linens, plates, and all of the other charges into their wedding and event packages. If they do not include it, they have much more flexibility in negotiating with you, then the local catering service may be able to offer you.

Another reason to consider getting quotes from one of the local hotels, is they are better equipped to provide you with back up plans should the weather disagree with your idea of having a wedding that day. Most Virginia Beach hotels are also part of a national brand, so there are also more channels to resolve any disputes should you be less than 100% satisfied with how your most important was handled.

Some of our favorite Virginia Beach hotels for a beach wedding would be the Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront or the Holiday Inn SunSpree Hotel. Both hotels are directly on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, with direct access for guests to walk right out onto thee beach. In addition, both hotels have large ballrooms that can accommodate more than 300 guests, and face out on to the ocean, so you can keep your oceanfront beach theme throughout your reception, should you decide the best place to have it is indoors. Parking for your guests is not an issue at these hotels, and it is a short walk back to your bridal suite after dancing all night in your heels.  Both hotels are located on the northern end of the Virginia Beach resort are, the section often viewed to be “quieter” and more family friendly, when compared to the southern end. This may be an important factor to consider if you are planning a wedding party that is diverse in age and if there may be children at your wedding.

Holiday Inn Virginia Beach Ballroom

If you are looking for differences between the two, our opinion is that the Sheraton Oceanfront tends to have a more mature atmosphere and a setting that is more conducive to  experienced, sophisticated travelers. The Holiday Inn just completed an extensive room renovation program, so the rooms will be fresh and comfortable for your guests. As aprt of the renovation, they will be changing their name, so they may not be the Holiday Inn Sunspree Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort when you are searching for them. They have a set up that is designed more for families and have greater amenity options to accommodate wedding guests who will have young children such as 250,000 gallons of fun including an oceanfront outdoor pool, 2 lazy rivers, 2 water slides, a whirlpool and a new 50-seat movie theatre.
